That's what I was thinking too but I wanted to play devils advocate.

Good. None of the federal jurisdiction besides international travel.

Or was that what governors and mayors said, because those idiots are known for being idiotic?

Half-quote. The full quote (paraprased or not) "We're not going to control the pandemic. We will control the therapeutics and vaccines."

Quoth DDG:
Quote:
Trump says 'we're learning to live with' coronavirus ...
https://news.yahoo.com/trump-says-we...013200410.html
"We're learning to live with it," Trump insisted. Biden relayed a different reality. He spoke directly to Americans who lost loved ones to the pandemic, and then spun Trump's words into a message about all the Americans who have died. "Learning to live with it?" Biden questioned. "People are learning to die with it."

What followed that doesn't matter much. That statement sounds like an admission of guilt, ignorance, and arrogance combined. I would add 'giving up' to the list, but they never really took the non-therapeutic interventions seriously. So it sure seems like we sacrificed lives, and increased suffering for many people for nothing. They make it look like THEY don't care, because they probably don't.

Therapeutics aren't where they need to be. An effective vaccine may never come.
