I'm hearing the gain-of-function research was still in progress. The leak might have been a blessing in disguise.

Gain of function as as we're currently capable of is incredibly inefficient because it's an iterative process involving chance mutation.

This whole pandemic is likely a mild preview of what biological weapons humanity will be capable of in the future. Our understanding of genetics is so rudimentary, yet it's not just possible, but probable that our ability to precisely engineer organisms and diseases will advance way beyond today's capabilities.

CRISPR promises to make gene editing cheap and easy; like someone in a modest lab in their basement can do it. CRISPR afterall is a process that nature stumbled upon all by herself. We're just now learning that trick, and we have the advantage of intention.

Dr. Mary's Monkey: How the unsolved murder of a doctor, a secret laboratory in New Orleans and cancer-causing monkey viruses are linked to Lee Harvey Oswald, the JFK assassination and emerging global epidemics is one of the longest titles of a book not printed during the 19th Century. To link together a murder in New Orleans, and polio vaccine laced with cancer-causing simian retro-viruses ...

'Sorry' is way overused. I'm looking for a case where "excuse me' won't substitute.

My wife says I don't apologize enough, but when I do, I mean it.

Anyhow, an immunologist predicting pandemics is not surprising. History is full of 'em, and it stands to reason more history will unfold.

I'd expect a nuclear proliferation expert to predict future nuclear warfare. The odds of something occuring approaches 100% as time approaches infinity. Given that we've already demonstrated nuclear warfare, it seems likely to occur again.

An AI expert will warn of programs that act adversely to human interests.

Climatologists will warn of catastrophic weather.

Astronomers will warn of catastrophic meteorite impacts or solar weather.

When these things occur, they represent correct predictions, not a plan.

Yeah, say the original plan was to fully develop it, along with a vaccine and treatments, then release the finished more deadly version all over the place, well not in your own country, so there's thousands patient zeros all over the world.
I say it was an unintentional release of something they eventually planned to intentionally release.

His words are too convenient to be coincidence.
I remember seeing that when he originally said it and thought it sounded like a vialed threat.
We now now that dr frankfouchi ended obamas 2014 ban on funding gain of function funding on his own authority it would seem, before trump was sworn into office in 2017. Then less than 2 years later his little science experiment grows legs.

Excellent! A test case.

Try changing it up and note the results.

When a woman's decided to be upset, best to lay low. They aren't looking for solutions at that point.

I have apologized after a certain level of calm has been restored, and that seems to be appreciated.

A tragic airline incident will occur during this current administration.

When it occurs, can I be accused of planning it?

It seems probable that a country would develop biological warfare and that accidents could occur. The analogy would be having a nuclear arsenal on standby, and accidentally deploying it. I mean, why not research all promising defensive and offensive strategies?

While I'm not apologizing for Fauci, I don't think it's probable he instigated the pandemic.
