I lack tact, but I don't lack a good sense for when a plan is suboptimal. Even worse, I don't usually have a better idea at the time I'm being critical of a bad plan.

Like clockwork, the next day the optimal strategy came to me, and I proposed it to my wife. I started off saying, "you won't like this initially, but here's how this plan optimizes all considerations".

She's a huge advocate of this plan now, and is even telling everyone our grand plan, sans my initial rejection of the original bad plan, and her anger towards me.

Most problems bore me until I'm confronted with so many bad solutions that I can no longer ignore them. It's not that I have better ones; it's only that I recognize inefficiency. Having these bad solutions in the background of my consciousness tends to produce better solutions out of the blue.

The recent problems involved conceiving a child, attending a major military promotion, transporting a sport bike that was gifted to me, and serving my customers (with a few other minor considerations).

I'll update how the grand plan goes.

I think they checked in with reality and realized they're about to be adults and will be free to do what they want. Had to ask them selves am I really going to forego owning a car, traveling to places I always wanted to see by air plane, getting the new iphone, ect in the name of saving the planet? Live like a hermit in a self imposed climate lock down, wait I just did a year of lock down, not doing that again.
