why not run the compressed air in to the intake of the gas engine, it would be kind of like a turbo, but without the drag.

NO! We already killed it once. Air Car threads are like weeds, and I'm getting tired of ripping them up.

Yes but;
If you designed the vehicle from the ground up, you could use the frame as compressed air tank. You could easily install safety valves and even crush zones which would deflate the tanks safely. You could have refilling stations in mountain passes, where the wind is sufficient to be a practical source, I can imagine a large wind turbine with a pressurized tower, huge volume and the air works towards the towers rigidity. We are already running lots of propane powered vehicles with tanks pressurized to 250 psi. We are also safely transporting huge numbers of containers of O2 and explosive gases at 3,000psi.
It does not need to be efficient if it is cost effective. Folks the most important thing is not MPG it is Miles per unit volume of pollution.
We are surrounded by energy sources that are not being developed because big business cannot keep control of them. Bio fuels are a complete anathema to them because you can make them in your back yard.
Gotta wake up folks and start to learn and teach how to get off the oil.

have u had ur coffee today naw im kidding anyways i like to see other ideas and points of view so i can make the best choice for me and lets face it no matter
how smart someone is in 1 area theres always someone smarter in others beside
those that came up with the best ideas were usualy thought of as stupid or crazy but they blazed trails

I have a better idea. Put some CNG in those tanks and burn it in an ICE. Then you'd have some range.

Patric, that leaves you deep in the pockets of the fossil fuel bandits.
Air powered cars could be made viable, but I sense a lot of anti alternative fuel bias here. 'Course you could always pay homage to the hydrogen gods, (atheist here). Imo the future lies in electric cars and bio diesel powered freight movers. Given the current state of pollution and corporate control, we need to force folks to take that direction.

CNG is a very viable alternative fuel and is responsible for the deepwater disaster (that and ideots figuring we can drill through liquid methane and survive)
CNG can be made from manure and garbage, it has long been said that the US citizens crap out/throw out enough to run the rest of the world.
Methane and its cousin natural gas have been ignored because of storage issues, now that they can be cheaply reformed into synthetic diesel I see no reason not to use them. Better to use domestic non-renewables than foreign ones. Oh wait, CNG is renewable, cough methane.
Cheers
Ryan

Half the electricity in my house comes from wind generators, the other half from methane/bio-gas that oozes out of landfills.
Both of those energy sources recharge an electric car.
Hmmm... How about a wind/air/electric/methane hybrid?
I'm sure there's some possibility there, just not sure exactly what....

I'm not against air powered cars, but you can't beat the laws of physics. Also, I like alternative fuels as much as the next guy.
