That is too cool. Someone needs to copy those images as I am sure they will go away after the ebay sale.

Who bought it? I hope somebody did! I copied the pictures. The thing the owner should consider is this: As good as the 22R engine may be, they make a kit to mate a VW diesel engine to the Toyota transmissions! That includes the TDIs! Motor mounts and all that would probably have to be fabricated, but damn! Think of the MPG with that setup!

Whodo? Who is "they"? I've got a kit I made myself (he said, blushing modestly) to fit Kubota xx05-series diesels to that trans, but one for VW diesels would be the cat's nightwear.

Boom! Here it is!
ACME ADAPTERS - Store: Engine Kits
They've got compete kits for the Suzukis, but for the Toyota it's just the adapter plate, no mounts or anything.
Here's somebody trying it themselves (haven't read it myself though):
VW Diesel Build Up - YotaTech Forums
I really like this one though...
TDI in a Toyota pickup - TDIClub Forums
I was tempted to put a TDI in one of the Toyota Dolphin motor homes.... nowhere near as aero as the "Insect" from this thread though.
