Prolly not you & I, but I have definitely seen workers at my company work in a way that just makes me wonder... Really, you put requirements for a product in PowerPoint?? That's both dumb AND hard!

Last evening our commercial partner has sent in a requirement documented in Excel with diagrams created in Word drawing tools and copied over.

For the next 2 hours I will be mostly reformatting the Excel without breaking up the diagrams so I can read it and then estimate how long it will take to do. I suspect the actual project will take less time than the reformatting. Glad I'm salaried and not against the clock

My annoyance - Mrs A overstays in a car park, its a leased car. Private parking company sends ticket to the lease company, lease company pays up without any challenge and wants the money off us - plus an "Admin Fee".

Private tickets have no legal standing in the UK.

I feel a trip to the small claims court coming on.

Double annoyance:
First: three lights, 200m from each other. As one turns green the next turns red. Accelerate, stop, wait. Accelerate, stop, wait. Get honked at for not accelerating to 80km/h (speed limit is 50).

Next, shortly after that set of lights is the only downhill on my weekly drive where I can EOC. I get 700-1000 meters of EOC and roll to a stop at a red light at the bottom, so the engine stays off for another minute as I wait for the light. Today there was a traffic jam (I try to go that route at other hours) all the way to the top of the hill. I felt bad as I filled out today's trip in my fuel log

XBox live and "Age verification". I've had a Microsoft "Live" account since I worked for a Gold Partner years ago (you had to have one to assign your exam passes to them for them to have partner points) and told them I was in the UK.

So now they want me to confirm A-junior has permission to virtually kill his friends online. And they want a credit card payment for charity to prove I no longer go to school in short trousers. Fine.

Except now they think I'm in America - Profile says UK, payment says US.

Microsoft - failing in data one profile at a time...

Or people who send me HTML-formatted email. I have to wonder how much time they spend choosing backgrounds & fonts, all of which my email reader strips off so that I can see readable text (if I'm lucky and they haven't gone too far overboard).

My absolute favorites here are the ones who somehow manage to get their mail to show up as black text on my black background.

Sticking with IT, my daily annoyance today - BYOD - Bring Your Own Device.

Yes of course I want you to connect your insecure, virus infected, un-patched, unprotected, pr0n filled tablet / pc / phone and connect it to my network.

And no I won't be fixing your iPad - thanks.

I'm not even a network manager......

...and breathe.

It's way beyond that over on this side of the pond. Even "work harder AND smarter" is passe!
