Carlos, nice work.

While you were breaking records, I was getting the worst gas mileage I've seen since May, in cold and rainy urban driving. I was running both headlights AND wipers, and due to traffic, I spent a lot of time gliding, and even more time sitting still, running 400W of electrical drains. 59mpg for the day.

This morning's fill (31.8 MPG) bumped my Mustang's lifetime MPG over 29 MPG. Not too bad for no mods.

I have a hard time feeling sorry for someone who 'only' got 59

It's been a while since I've bumped the RobertSmalls gas mileage blab thread.

86.3mpg after work today, at my usual extralegal cruising speed. I had to drive 6mi into the country, on a 45/55mph PSL highway that's excellent for fuel economy. When I couldn't do 5th gear LB, I did 4th. By the time I got back into town, it was no longer rush hour, and I P&G'd through the village where I normally gas & brake.

So, >80mpg can happen even on warm winter days.

I changed my thermostat over the weekend. The engine temperature used to hover around 165F and now it's rock solid at 192F (87C stat). I usually struggle to keep the Scangauge mileage reading over 40mpg on my morning commute, today I improved the tank average to 42mpg. I may be heading to a record range on my tank.

I set a record today: longest warm-up time yet (8.2mi into my 9.2mi commute). It was 22°F today, and I got 79.4mpg instead of the usual 60-70mpg.

I had dry roads, light traffic (hence P&G through the village), and improved technique (75mpg 4th gear lean burn from the moment coolant temperature hits 150°F).

And yes, my hands are still cold. I think I'll dig up my ski mittens.

Congrats!

I got 18MPG on the 1.7 mile commute to school and 14MPG on the way back home. It snowed during the day so my commute back home was slippery. I can't wait until it is warm out so I can bike to school because this commute sucks.

I'm running about 42-43 mpg of mostly city with my Metro over the last 700 miles or so. I don't yet have any instrumentation though so I couldn't say what I saw today.

The recent snow storms and cold temps have finally put my mpg into the realm of winter mileage. I hadn't had a single drive in under 50mpg since the first week of November because we had a lovely Indian Summer here. And then there's this week. Monday the snow was so bad that I had to drive the truck and I got stuck in traffic for one hour forty five minutes! Normally it's a 36-40 minute commute. I don't have a SG in the truck, so I can only assume it was far worse than the typical 14-16mpg.

Tuesday I had to keep the car running the entire drive in because it was in the single digits. Traffic was horrendous and I managed my worst drive in ever, 42.3mpg. Today was mildly better with 49.4mpg, but I really liked it better when everyone was on holiday and the roads were mine to P&G EOC.

Hopefully I'll find a way to get up earlier so I can avoid some of this traffic, but winter, I'm afraid, is here to stay for a while.
