And how about another switch, in series, as a cheap anti-theft switch? Hide it somewhere under the dash or under the seat, only the wife (or whoever else gets the keys from you) should also know.

It's a place that only you would ever reach while driving, so no chance of someone else knocking/using it, or damaging anything, etc.
Those plastic pieces around your steering column come off fairly easily, usually, and it'd be a great place to mount it where it won't get bumped/used accidentally.

Having it on the shifter makes you not have to move your hand around as much I suppose. When you kill the engine, you shift to neutral right away so IMO it makes sense to have there. I suppose its lazyness, but thats kind of what this mod is all about anyways.

About a year ago I started this thread:

It was made to discuss the kill switch signal cutting options. The crankshaft position sensor was just an easy one to do and has worked well for others.

Not a bad idea! I'm not too worried about this where I work/live, but it is a good idea. Perhaps I'll put in an extra switch when I go put in the parallel one. Couldn't hurt...

About time! The shifter location for the switch is a good one from an ergonomic standpoint.

I drove the car for the first time since the mod. It definitely needs better mounting than electrical tape (already leaving sticky residue), but I love it. It make it so much easier to drive. Also, my scangauge never reset (a constant problem) like it used to which is great. I should have done this long ago.

Well, I had worried about this when doing the mod, but the check engine light has turned on. I haven't read the codes yet, but I'm guessing its seeing the cam sensor still working but the crank sensor not working. I'm guessing I'll probably have to kill both at the same time, or live with a check engine light.

Why doesn't anyone kill the signal wire to the coil instead of one of the sensors?
You don't have COP ignition, right?

Several coil packs, right? There should be signal wires for each pack that you can run jumpers from to ground them, stopping the packs from building charge and firing the plugs. It'll stall your engine. This is how older go-karts and stuff are shut off... the shutoff switch grounds the signal to the magneto, so you get no spark. Since you're EFI, it'll still fire the injectors until the engine stops rotating, but you're talking about mL of fuel at that point.
Another route would be an injector kill, but that will probably also show a CEL, although I believe injectors only give intermittent CEL's (it'll go away when you restart).
