For the first time in quite a while, I did some work on the Paseo. Late in fall I hit a deer and bent up the front quarter panel. Its been sitting ever since. I got another fender, had it painted and am now ready to put it back on the car. In the mean time, I've really needed new tires. The old ones were suffering from dry rot. So, the other night I took the wheels off and brought them to the local shop along with my new set of Kumho eco solus HM KR22 tires. They are about the only 13" tires I could find that are LRRs.

I bought my LRR tires off TireRack. I tried to buy them local but they couldn't get them for me. They would have cost a little more locally, but they were $50/ea. The cheapest 13" tire I can get for the car is $40, but those are 155/80/13s. The LRRs I got are 175/70/13s of which the cheapest I can find are $46. So, the premium for LRR is pretty small IMO. There are also plenty of tires more expensive than the LRRs too (up to $75/ea). The cost seems to be in the middle to low end of the pack. The reviews for the tire were pretty good too.

Summer 2011 we should do a comparo between your LRR tires & the Goodyear supposed LRR tires on my Firefly:
- I'll add weight to make the Flea the same as your car's weight (fatso)
- set the tires at the same pressure
- do the test on a days with similar temperatures
- find a level, smooth road
- do a series of bi-directional, timed, low speed coast down runs
Not a perfect test - just for comparison's sake. Eh?

Sounds like a good idea. Now we just need to remember once it warms up.

For a Wi car it seems to be pretty rust free inside that opened up panel. Did you drive it in the winter salt bath?

It wasn't always a Wisconsin car. When I bought it around 2003ish, I think it came from Tennessee. Its only seen a few winters here.

You already know it's a keeper than! Winter is brutal on our cars, we can save some of them, but have to drive something. My Toyota is the sacrificial lamb. I just took it in to get the rear break lines replaced' I would normally do it myseld but my wife & I are sharing the car, 40 mps as apposed to 17-18 in her Honda Passport. Besides no heat in the garage' getting to old for that $hut. I'm slow on car repairs too.
