Why not install a manual? No clutch required.

I actually have a 96 volt system, so it should be as close to the original heat as possible.

Simple, just costs. The automatic was a lot cheaper than a manual because with the manual I would need the transmission, mounts, clutch, pressure plate, shifter and linkages. The cost of all that was over $900 where a replacement Auto was only $300.
On the transmission note, I won't be able to get it until maybe Monday. Apparently the forklift guy put a crack in the casing and the transmission was sent out for repair. Ugh.
I just checked my EV's computer to see if the transmission shot any codes out, but it didn't so I am off to take it apart and try to find any damage. The transmission makes a racket when spun up and I can't tell where the noise is actually coming from.

So, I got my new transmission and finally got it mostly installed. I have to reinstall the left wheel assembly before I can reinstall the motor and control systems. I have a few afternoons this week that I can work on the EV and I hope to be fully driving by Thursday afternoon.

I am SOO CLOSE!! I have the new transmission in, cooler hooked up and sensors plugged back in. I spent today reinstalling the left wheel setup and cleaning up the mess from all the rain/mud splash all over the car. Tomorrow, if I make it home before dark, I will reinstall the motor and fill the transmission with ATF. I still have to finish the AC/PS mount, but I might just put it off and get driving again!

Ugh. The new transmission doesn't work.
It doesn't engage into any gear, but everything checks out. It did need to be welded by the junk yard because the forklift guy had to much fun and cracked the case, so that may have done something else. My conclusion is that the internal ATF filter is clogged with metal shavings from the repair job (which I had to clean off the exterior of the transmission) and 11 years of crappy ATF.
So tomorrow it's coming out and I am going to send it back for a refund. I have located another transmission with a lot less miles that has been tested fine that I plan to get once I get my refund.
Ugh, this is not fun. I even have my new Zilla 1k-LV sitting here just waiting to be used!

The EV lives again!
I was taking it apart when I discovered the Torque Converter wasn't all the way in! It was out just enough to prevent it from locking into the ATF pump gears, so I adjusted it and drove it today! I did a 1 mile loop around the neighborhood and I really need to break in this new pack. They have like 2 miles on them, so the I need to ease them in to their EV existence. Of course I will be installing the Zilla this weekend, so it might not be an "easy" break in for them.
The EV Grin is back!

The difference between the Kelly and the Zilla 1K-LV is night and day! I can zip around town great, but I did have to lower the battery AMP draw quite a bit to keep the battery abuse down. I am slowly breaking in the battery pack, and have about 40 or so miles on it now. I want at least 100 miles before I go do some serious testing.
I have ordered a new suspension system from eBay, a Skunk2 Race set. That should fix my low rear end because of the batteries. I also can't drive it at night because since the rear is so low, the front is so high up that the headlights don't hit the road!
I still am working on the heat issue. I am going to call around this week and try to find a place that can drain my AC coolant, because I need to remove the Evaporator to get my to old heater core. I am going to install a 1500 Watt ceramic element for simplicity. I was going to make an attachment that would go onto the dash for heating, but that would be just as much work as installing the heater properly.
