That was my last post of the evening. I'd thought about adding a disclaimer that I was going for 1/10,000th.

Which is of course 0.01%.

I think.

Maybe not, but I started out in the bottom 10%, and am now in the top 20% at least, if not the top 10%. Good enough :-)

I pity the fools who are on the verge of starting to win the unwinnable and they restart the whole process of the a nearly unwinnable game over again.
Well someone has to make sure that the rich keep getting richer. Sure as heck isn't going to be me.
Hopefully you misheard and they were refinancing to a 15 year loan...

Otherwise, those rates suck. My 30 year loan that I'm nearing closing on will be at 3.375%

Why?

Just like with home loans, cheap loans drive UP cost. Cheap, easy to get student loans that are granted by our government increase demand for college education which pushes the tuition costs sky high.

Make it HARDER to get student loans and allow them to be cleared through bankruptcy (like ANY other loan) and tuition costs will plummet.

Student loans, tend to be risky investments. Money is being loaned to a person who tends to have little to no belongings to use as collateral and no job. This SHOULD have a high interest rate to compensate for the risk.

I would refinance to save half a percent, but would only go back to thirty years if I did not have a choice.

I would just continue making the same payment I always had.

I was finally able to pay off my credit card right before coming home from annual training, which I finished yesterday. This morning I went to crank up the laptop I bought five years ago in Afghanistan and it was dead, Jim.

So, I am the somewhat-proud owner of one of these: Dell XPS 8900 Desktop | Intel Core i7 | 4GB Graphics

Except, at some point I will figure out why they advertise 32GB, but this only has sixteen.

It is the 8900.

Dead how? Lots of things that can make a laptop (or desktop FTM) seem not to work are relatively easy to repair.

Same thing happened to me. I bought a hp laptop in 2010 when the one I bough in 2002 hard drive quit 3 days before I left to go to Afghanistan. The now 5 or 6 year old hp laptop stopped working a few weeks before I left for Afghanistan this but I believe it's repairable.
So I took my backup dell little laptop I picked up last year.
