Typing "tornado" into the search box might be enlightening

A block of wood under the gas pedal would give about the same results - permanent restriction. If you want that, the extra mixing from this rig might be worth a couple of bucks in improved mileage.

Smokey Yunick was a strong proponent of aids to evaporation of the fuel, so this gadget might help that way. Especially if it was downstream from a dirty injector. However, I wouldn't take the time to install one even if my dad gave it to me.

That is true. His was basically a turbo wasn't it? With no intercooler and running real hot?
If I'm not mistaken these tornados and whatnot install AHEAD of the throttle body and ahead of any fuel. The throttle plate will mess up whatever it is they are purported to do anyway.

Yeah, Smokey's intake temp was getting up to 450 F, AFAIR. No carb icing on his rig. :-)
Gosh, the old J.C. Whitney "turbo" spinners were supposed to go between the carb and manifold. Maybe the suckers are even dumber now.

My question would be: clockwise or anti-clockwise, which is better?

Put any one of these gadgets in Google and look 2 or 3 pages in.
You will find lawsuits and false advertising litigation abounds.
All of these type of "Fuel Atomizers" have been tested by the EPA and found to do nothing at best and waste fuel while restricting your air flow at worst.
