If one thinks the Volt is da bomb and wants a new one, now seems to be the time to pull the trigger and declare jihad on gas prices. (Oops, sorry NSA, don't mind me- it was only a figure of speech).

Chip-tune it to use ethanol and it would be the best way to annoy the oil sheiks

Actually, GM claims that they are NOT losing money, but newspaper, automotive magazine writers, and congressional pundits believe otherwise.

I'm a little disappointed in GM lately, I hope the diesel cruze is as good as we all hope.

Well nix the cruze diesel, starting at $26k.... what a joke.

Hey CR, and gang

The Volt loses money when it sits on lots and does not sale! The price cut is simply to see if that will get more of them moving off the dealer lots. The problem with the Volt and I heard this countless times from potential customers was the fact it was only a 4 seater as compared to the Prius and Honda Insight! I can not even begin to tell you how many times I heard this statement. People were very disappointed with this in addition to the limited rear viewing visibility the back window offered.

The limiting factor in all of these current hybrid and pure electric designs such as the Volt and leaf is they simply don't pencil out initially or over the long term especially when you have to factor in the cost of a new battery pack.

They are losing money by not manufacturing something that sells better.

I don't know what the sales figures show...

But around here (greater Seattle area) I see them all over. I am typically seeing 3-6 on my daily commute, and they don't appear to be the same ones every time. Probably about 20 for every Honda Insight I see (new or old).
