I'd have to watch the video again, but it does seem like she just went to a dealer and didn't ask around.
TBH, asking around makes sense but is a bit intimidating from a regular ol' joe's perspective like mine.

Personalities that avoid conflict should recruit personalities that would advocate for those who avoid conflict.
That's the nature of the relationship I share with my wife. Doesn't have to be a spouse though; any combination of conflict avoidance paired with conflict seeking strikes a good balance.

Yes, she took it to a dealer - and that dealer ripped her off. Some dealerships are like that.
The nice thing about Chevy is that there are 2,904 dealerships in the USA. There are 11 Chevy dealerships within a 40 mile radius of my house. Even when I was driving my ambulance cross-country and got stuck in the middle of nowhere Missouri there were plenty to choose from. This is 100 miles along I-70

There used to be a Ford and a Chevy dealers here. Then the Ford closed up and left. Then the Chevy stopped being a dealership and became an independent mechanic shop and used car dealer.
Now the closest dealership is at lest 60 miles away. The funny thing is it is a combination of a Toyota and a Chevrolet right next to each other. Excuse the bathroom joke, sorry. They did upsell me a 12V battery for the Avalon as it was well over $300. But I couldn't find any place closer and didn't want to drive hundreds of miles just to get a 12V battery. None of the non-dealer parts shops can get a 12V battery for a 2013 Avalon. I know, I tried all of them.

Now that Ford is focusing (no pun intended) on the Mustang, the SUVs and commercial vehicles ranges, it's quite a PITA for professional drivers. A similar issue happened in my country after 2019 when Ford ceased local manufacture of the Super Duty and the Cargo. A handful of former dedicated truck dealers remained selling cars, SUVs, Rangers and the recently reintroduced Transit vans, and keeping aftersales support for the larger trucks. At least the physical structure of those shops allows for an easier servicing to the Transits and Rangers, which are all imported, as the Transit is assembled in Uruguay and the Ranger is made in Argentina.

That is part of choosing to live in a tiny town even more remote than the middle of nowhere Missouri.

Living in a remote tiny town has it's benefits. Like being able to find and reserve an available camp site for this weekend today, just a few days before Labor Day weekend, in a charming forest next to a beautiful lake in amongst snow capped mountains, where I've seen moose and bear and lots of other wildlife on several occasions, only 20 minutes from here.

If things get too hard economically here I will move.
But there's no need to move down right now to some suburb city like where my sister-in-law and nephew were shot and killed on the front porch of their own house and where trying to get anywhere is a traffic nightmare.
