Awsome design.. and photoshop, my question is this, aerodynamically is the up turn on the nose best.. Ideally the logical side is a very low pointed angle, like a F1 car is pushing more air over the car and less under body where it has stuff to get hunk up on.
However one though was that to much air rammed under the car is going to rais ride hight to some extent.. and ideally the car lowering at high speed would be ideal but not to much you need a balance of force to drive through the air and not up lift or to much down force other wise that just more drag... around and over seem the logical best practice.
However a low long nose makes speed bumps and drive ways very treacherous... I gave thoughts to a motorized adjustable nose that would angle up for low speed driving, such as a concord jet had.. when driving slow its in a angled up position to clear speed bumps etc. and when at high speed it lowers the angle to flat and allows maximum over body and less under body air., However I have been looking at noses on recent sports cars and even the ev1 ect, and the logical idea is as much of a bow or point you can bring out in front of the car.. to cut through the air and direct it around the car. Lokk at photos of the the latest 1996 fire birds, very pointed rounded low nose angles pushing air over and around the car.. The ev1 was very rounded front end.. yeas a water drop is very very rounded, however its not a car.. seems a point in front like the fire birds would be the ideal wind cutting shape.. considering were pushing a basically square shape through the air.. Your design looks pointed more so than rounded.. Is this the idea?

If you are half as good at fabrication as you are at photoshop... man that's a sweet image!
Good luck on the project!

Aloha all!!
I'm new to this site & to the world of EcoModdling. I found this site though Treehugger.com & was just looking for a few ways to save on gas (gas in Hawaii is around $4.40 a gallon at the moment, sure it will be higher tomorrow, lol!) Anyway I have a '95 Honda Civic, anyone modding one of these?
I see that there hasnt been any update on this "Dream Prius" for awhile. I would love to see whats been going on with it.

I'm waiting for the movie: "Who Crushed the Aero Dream Prius?"
Notice how many comments go back to the loveliness of the photoshop. It's what makes the project so 'dreamy.' It looks like a car many of us wouldn't mind walking up to at the end of the day and calling our own.

The list of mods are:
1) Wiper delete
2) Rear wheel skirts
3) Front wheel skirts
4) Boattail
5) Side mirror delete
6) Front boattial
The question I have for all of you. How to accomplish each one of these mods.
|
The answer is easy ... leave the car with me for a couple of months with a suitcase of cash ... I can do this, with no hesitation. We'll make the heavy version first, then mold it to make a much lighter final version ...
In case you don't trust me .. LOL, watch the progress on my vibe, mods version 2.0 will include sloping the roofline to make it look alot like your vision.
