despite all this torrential rain we've been getting,

the sky cleared and i was able to do my oil change today

filled up immediately after so we'll have to see if it affects mpg

Ah the Civic Hybrid. The Honda L series is on my short list of favorite engines which is quite short mind you. The VTEC version of the L13(Asia only) makes a whopping 98BHP and 98 ft-lbs of torque! Sadly the 2006 was the year they went CVT only, and the manual was better for MPG from what I understand.

Enjoy the car, it's a bit heavy for the engine, but it does the job.
If it isn't coasting very well it's probably the regenerative brakes and not just the Electronic throttle, if you hold the gas pedal ever so slightly it will coast. It's the CVT design being focused on smooth driving I suppose.

Looks like either you're figuring out how to drive it for MPG, or the engine is wearing in and loosening up. Probably both. Good job!!

its got over 50k miles so i dont think its the engine

the recent oil/air change w the long drive helped it

my commute is still only 5 miles a day on the evil hill
