I see no reason to add to my resignation from this.

It is apparent that Old Mechanic has some sort of proposed technological innovation to promote. He intends to benefit in having something to sell.
It is obvious that Neil Blanchard has an ideology to promote. (To wit, his relentless proselytizing, including his constant persistence on always spelling earth as "Eaarth". But it's not surprising for someone from the people's republic of Maasachusetts.) He also stands to benefit in promoting his beliefs.
Both stand to benefit in some way. There is always a payoff. Neither is acting out of charity, altruism or goodwill.
I don't want to "get fixing". I don't have anything to sell, nor am I here to sell anything. It's not my problem. Nor is it my responsibility to "fix" anything.
Any problem, whether actual or exaggerated is not one that I or any other individual created. It's high time that we hold politicians and diplomats responsible for whatever global problems exist. It's not our job to clean up any mess that someone else created.
Who pays? Who benefits? I refuse to accept any responsibility for problems that are not of my making. Enough of the stuff of which 'guilt trips' are made.

Having made a few other replies from the start, obviously I didn't miss it. How could anyone miss it? It's been bandied about for 11 pages now...

OK - I suppose I didn't understand the point of the pronouncement bit.
Any hoo given that it was said in 2000 that snowfalls would be a thing of the past and children would only know about it from the internet, here is Helga last night.
The large pile next to her is the snow I've been shifting from the drive since the weekend. There is another similar sized pile behind her, and the drive is covered once again this morning - I give up.
This is the 4th or 5th winter with heavy snow here in the last 10 years, it still isn't a trend because of course the weather isn't the climate. Unless of course it upports the idea of man made warming.
And of course our Met Office predicted a mild winter. They got that wrong last year too and I had to remove a ton or so of "warming" then.
But then again the Met are also on the bandwagon. Being British I'm not fond of revolutions but I can't help wondering how we get rid of these muppets.
I suppose I had better be careful what I tap, I may get blown up.
No pressure.

Rising oceans, acidifying oceans -- hmmm...
Rising Seas, Climate Change & the Viriginia Coast | WBUR and NPR - On Point with Tom Ashbrook
3 feet sea level rise is minimum in the next 100 years (or sooner) and it probably will be 5 feet, or more.
Norfolk, VA is already seeing lots of damage. Miami is particularly vulnerable.

It has risen about 1 1/2 feet, there, I believe they said? The land there is also sinking, but melting (land) glaciers and expanding water volume as it warms up are quantifiable and significant. It is about half from each cause (sinking land is about 6-7 inches, and the rest is rising water).
There are at least two island nations that are starting to plan to move their people to other land.
You know, the insurance companies are no longer writing policies for land near the water in low lying areas. Lloyd's of London is the insurance of last resort, and even they have stopped writing some policies. Australia is taking this into account in their planning and policies. Elevated headlands will become islands; shorelines will move significantly, salt water will infiltrate more groundwater -- this is already happening.
Miami FL cannot get by with building dikes -- the land is porous limestone/corral and the water will come in under them. Once this gets high enough, the city will probably have to be abandoned. India is already building a wall to try and keep the Bangladeshis out; as their land floods.
The Navy is very concerned, too and we need to realize why this is happening, and begin to do something.
