Nice post, I liked it I really did but I must correct some things. LOL

Old car: Priceless (meaning free)
Repairs (broken down): $350 Tires, $130 Fuel Pump, $50 Main Relay, $70 Stereo, $40 Alternator (the original crapped out at 233k) $$ Misc. used parts
Mods: $50 (gotta give ya that one, mostly primer, etc.)
The gas that goes in it....TO FRIGGIN EXPENSIVE !!!!

The best part of it all: NO CAR PAYMENTS or EXPENSIVE INSURANCE

And the all time greatest part NO DOOR DINGS, no ones brave enough to park next to me. LMAO

I go to Goodwill and people leave to move their cars.

I got laughed at twice in the past few days... I really need to get my MPG numbers up.
First one was by two women in a wrecked chevy lumina with no headlight/front fender and the wrong colored door. I wanted to show her a mirror.

Today some passenger in a 3/4 ton, lifted, longbed, supercab GMC was laughing hysterically. I don't think they're getting 1/2 the gas mileage that BigDave is getting...

I always get laughed at on my scooter and so does my g/f. I don't get it, it's always one person in the car and they end up going the same speed we are, but were enjoying the fresh air and 100mpg while they are getting 18mpg while we pass them. That's what makes me smile, passing a hummer and knowing your beating the hell out of their mpg. I always get asked if my car is one of them lectric cars....i wish. But i do get old guys coming to tell me their scooter stories and it's fun. This old 70 year old guy said he was going to go buy one now.

I pulled up next to a scooter guy a couple of weeks ago - his scooter was pretty old and he was in his twenties, so I figured he was a mpg enthusiast. I was engine off at a stoplight so I rolled down the window and said, "hey, what mileage do you get in that thing?" He told me about 70 miles on its one gallon tank. I replied, "Awesome." He said it got up to about 30 mph or so. When the light turned green, he got a 3-step running start (it was uphill) and was on his way.

I already knew he got at least 60 mpg before I rolled down the window, but I wanted to be friendly and share a smile since he was doing something positive about saving fuel for everyone. I don't see why everyone else doesn't share the sentiment.

About 2 weeks ago, I was filling up and a Prius pulled along side of me. Upon returning from paying he asked me if I was doing that for gas savings. After replying yes, he said, "Why bother this thing gets me 40mpg?". To which I replied, "Look at my mileage then look at how much gas I just pumped." A quick calculation and I told him I just got 44mpg with a paid off non-hybrid Pontiac. He was not real happy ... LOL

I have yet to see another vehicle with any kind of aeromods or MPG postings, but my little Metro gets all kinds of feathers rustled when they see the "57MPG" in the back window. Just today I was at a light and this old 1994-1997 Dodge Ram 1500 4X4 gets behind me and then he starts revving his engine. The light turns green and apperently, I was not accelerating fast enough for him so he floored the gas and held it there all the way around me and all the way to the top of the 1/2 mile long hill blowing black smoke from his exhaust.

The next light about a mile past the hill opens to a 2 lane and since I had the light timed, I blew past him at 50 MPH as the light turned green while he was stopped at the light. I then could hear him punch the gas to the floor again squealing the tires and bellowing more black smoke from the poor Dodge. I turned at the next crossroad and he never did catch up by time I left the main road.

He probably never got the hint.
