I also had the thought that there are a lot of major cities with a beltway style loop around them. We could do a different "capitol" run every year. What do you guys think of that idea?

Thats a good idea, and I think traffic should be ok on a Saturday. It would allow more people to join.

Last time I was around the city for work, traffic was going 70mph and people were dying trying to pass me in a 26' box truck.

Hopefully we can get 20+ cars and make it an annual event.

I will post this on reddit and see if we can get more people involved.

Last time I was on that beltway we picked up a bike (suzuki TU250X) in Silver Spring Md. on a Saturday. It took us almost 2.5 hours to get from there to Fredericksburg with my brother driving his manual Nissan pickup. Some of the worst traffic I have seen in years. We got off I95 and drove through downtown Fredericksburg to get on route 17 south for the rest of the trip. Mostly crawling when you need that much time to get maybe 50 miles. I would love to go but I just can't see voulentarily getting into that without it being essential as it was when we got the bike. It's 3 hours from my home, but I have seen it take 10 plus.

regards
Mech

Ok, are we saying that Saturday the 11th would be a bad choice also??

I'd really only want to do this if we can get 10 or more people there...

So far, Dave, you are the only one that has sent me an email saying you were coming.

Hopefully we can make it happen because there really should be a MPG event on the east coast.

A job of mine is to manage a facility, and I have a team in to count some 6 million worth of merchandise that week. There will not be much sleep for me.
