The de-ecomodding has begun!

The Metro came out of hibernation on the weekend. I've begun removing mods to make it look normal in preparation for sale...

What's a relatively clean, non-rusty Metro with low miles/km worth these days? $500-1000 maybe? Needs things like: cat converter, CV joint (new old stock Swift axle provided).

Are they restoration candidates yet?

Metro: SOLD!

Rounding out this thread with the news that I sold the Metro yesterday! Bought by a local car enthusiast - a guy in his mid-20's-ish.

(Apparently the kids these days think old Sukukiclones are cool in an ironic way.)

I have never had such fast & enthusiastic response selling a used car in my life. More details about the sale: Just sold my 2000 Metro beater. Gone in 60 minutes! Fastest sale ever

Epilogue...

The story continues. Check this out!

The car appeared in my alerts this morning, asking price $3000.

Remember, I sold it for $750. It was clear from the near-instant response to my ad that I could have asked more money for it, but I just wanted it gone. And go it did, quickly.

But $3k??

More evidence of the craziness in the used car market?

Well, asking $3k is different from getting $3k.

I sent him a message saying I found the original owners manual and an extra summer tire if he wanted them. He didn't even message back... out of sheer embarrassment I'm sure!

A similar thing happened to me when I sold my '97 3 cyl. Metro a couple of years ago [before this inflated market was happening and gas prices were still low]. I sold it to a co-worker for only $700. He knew that I take excellent care of my cars and that they are problem free. I had switched to pure EVs and it was just sitting in the garage. He kept asking me to sell it to him. He told me that his truck wouldn't pass inspection and that he wanted it to teach his wife how to drive a stick shift. Well, the following day I see it listed on Facebook Marketplace for $1,500.

Sold my 2000 Accord to a man who only drove it two blocks and turned around and said he'd buy it...cash. Sold! A second person drove it away. Two months later I got a notice that "my" 2000 Accord was in the Police impound lot and would be sold at auction if not picked up. A phone call cleared that up. About 6 months later I again receive a letter that it had been impounded. I didn't call that time and haven't heard from them again. Seems the buyer had a drinking problem and didn't have a license when he bought the car.
