Two bowling ball bags of magic and an aluminum axle beam that is a drop-in replacement for the Ford I-beam with radius rods and/or the Mustang II A-arm crossmember.

SEMA and the aftermarket would eat that up.

Edit: after that video, Youtube offered an older but better look, from the X-Prize days.

Six/seven pounds wheels? They could sell just those. The stance reminds me a lot of a slammed Class 5-1600 Baja racer:

I got to spend a few hours with Oliver and chat about the VLC production car and got to take a drive in the car around Emeryville, CA. What a great car!

Pretty funny comment about his interactions with VW.

When I met Oliver he was carrying a case about the size of a bowling ball bag, and inside was a front suspension (the whole thing) for a car about the size and weight of a VW Jetta. He said he had been in talks with VW. I think if VW had moved forward with some of the suspension and aero modifications with Edison2, the company would not have "suspended operations". For that matter, if any of the many companies he contacted had decided to move forward in the direction of efficiency it would have kept E2 alive.

I really hope they do move ahead. I'm a fan!
VW has said they will be showing an all new high efficiency electric concept car later this year.

VW has shown to be very good at press releases and show cars, but very poor at actually building anything. Hopefully they have made a course correction after the diesel fiasco and will start to move forward with some of these efficient concepts.

It is my understanding there are XL1s out on the roads in private hands, whereas there are no VLCs or Apteras or Elios.

Yes, VW is like a lot of car companies in this regard. The difference now is that VW has dug a deep diesel hole for themselves, and they have said that it will be electric cars that will get them out of that hole. They have said recently that they will build 30 EV models by 2025.

Volkswagen's plan to bounce back? 30 electric cars in 10 years

And speaking of the XL1, VW could design a gasoline burning, steel (or aluminum) version, and an all electric version, and sell it for an affordable price.

So, maybe this is the thing that salvages Edison2? VW is certainly more likely to work with Oliver Kuttner now, than they were last year.

Why does VW need to work with Kuttner, or anybody? They know how to do it... if they want to.

It is a guess based on a single post, so it is probably nothing. But Edison2 could bring their suspension at least, to VW.

Yes, I fully agree with this. VW will have to make a change and it may involve some of the lightweight concepts like the E2 in wheel suspension system. Looking forward to seeing what they do at this point (both VW and E2).

For what it's worth:

"I have been quiet for a while .... Many of you know me as being involved with Start-ups — In Edison2 I am still busy and by the end of this year we will unite much of what we learned in our new prototype ... the 19 th chassis expected done by year end."

Wow. This is a very nice surprise to read. I'm going to have to start digging into this. If they are relaunching the company is love to get involved.
