Do we get a clue?
Rather than compare to Aptera, I'd compare to Tesla. It makes the odds sound better. Even if they never ship a complete car, as long as their subsidiary is selling in-wheel suspension units as an aftermarket part, I'd be happy.

I was completely serious.
What else do you want me to do?
I'm a doctor. I have disposable income. I'm very serious about energy conservation. I follow the blog. I liked you on facebook. I would buy one. I have cooked my own biodiesel for ten years for my tdi. I have spent many many hours building my superinsulated shop (r-50 walls, r-70 ceilings) and am remodelling my house for same performance. I teach stewardship classes at church. I grow my own food, permaculture, etc etc etc.
Your project has the capability to change the world.
How do you want me to be more enthusiastic? Serious question.
When can I buy one?
You do your part, I'll do my part.

I, for one, never doubted your seriousity.
Funny thing is I'm completely serious too*, just without the disposable income.
If I had two pair of those in-wheel units, I'd bolt them to aluminum tubes and bolt those up under my 1961 VW panel van. Bridgestone 155/50x19s on Model A wire wheels and I'd be good to go.
*unchurched, but I built houses towns and factories and they were [almost] all energy efficient.

Daily Planet | Videos
There's excellent footage of car #95, inside and out showing recent mods in prep for land speed attempts as well as aero test vids and more footage inside the shop and a quick view of the consumer VLC. Excellent commentary from Ron Mathis and Brad Jaeger.

Sorry you feel the update on Edison2 above was somehow asking you to do more or be more enthusiastic. That request/expectation wasn't in the post, nor was it intended to be.
Some forum members don't follow Edison2 on Facebook. Once in a while I repost something here so they know what's going on.

I was responding to this comment,
"What does it take to get this forum excited? Edison2 is doing some of the
coolest eco-modding in existence and it's landing on dead ears in an
ecomodding forum... I don't get it. Can anyone clue me in here?"
No harm, no foul. Carry on.

Thanks Troy I didn't know you were referring to a post 5 pages back, from 5 1/2 months ago, which was a personal post, not an update. That was confusing.
Speaking of updates, there's another coming with more info on land speed records and why Edison2 will attempt to break several. It was mentioned in the DailyPlanet piece.

It's funny you mentioned this, because we were just discussing this at work last week.
The "most" you can get into a tire is about "80%" depending on tire pressure.
1) An empty tire is not really empty! It has atmospheric pressure in it based on barometric pressure, so call it one atmosphere of *air*.
2) Fill the tire to 15 psi, and now the tire has two atmospheres of air in it, or 50% Nitrogen and 50% air.
3) Fill it to 30 psi and now the tire has 75% Nitrogen and 25% air, and so on.
4) Air is already 80% Nitrogen.
Just something to think about.
Jim.

I always find it interesting when gauges show zero PSI in tanks or other containers which obviously still have a volume and do not contain vacuum.
