There are several types of participants on this list. All are welcome here, but it is obvious our motives are quite different.

One is the "green" promoter: save fossil fuel, save the environment, save the planet, etc., all for the "greater good" of mankind or for some political cause considered noble.

The other is comprised of those who have personal, rational self-interest at heart: fuel is now so expensive that it behooves me to conserve it, because the higher the price goes or remains, despite our government having redefined inflation, (i.e. having removed food and fuel costs from the inflation index for more than a decade), the more I'm getting screwed, daily.

Then there are the engineering nerds, who simply enjoy considering problems and proposing theoretical solutions, mostly for the academic exercise of it.

This list has something for everyone, eh?

I just reviewed what I originally posted, and I will again repeat it, for the record:

And you said in reply:

I never mentioned 'honest, just trying to get by, honest, hard-working, honest, etc.' - or anything you implied that I said AT ALL.

Maybe you are quoting someone else, erroneously? Or maybe you are trying to put 'words into my mouth'? It certainly looks that way.

And then there's this final comment from you:

That's on the emotional and intellectual level of a pre-school child, at best.

And so we now know your level and your inability to participate in an adult manner in a discussion. If you continue, you deserve to be ignored or treated as a child.

Reputation matters.

Btw, conrads on all the 'cut n paste'.....wow........

so much material .....so little time.

oh, I almost forgot.......since you are so concerned "Reputation matters", quit freeloading and donate a couple of buck to the site. The lack of a little red star certainly goes to reputation.
here's the link so you don't keep harming your reputation...

According to you, a good reputation can only achieved by monetary payment.

I am neither persuaded nor influenced by your attempt at guilt-mongering and calling me a freeloader.

Reputation cannot be bought.

To be clear......no one is 'calling you a freeloader'.
You are a freeloader.

Wow.....you really lack any logical thought process. According to me.....????? what???

No. A 'good reputation' is 'bought' by right actions that are talked about by others. Right actions involve character. Doing the right thing before it's suggested. Doing the right thing when no one is around.

But following the 'flow' of the discussion. You failed to acknowledge, thus granted that my comments where of a much lighter nature than you realized. By not commenting you have accepted my point.

Then you decide to try to salvage your 'reputatiuon' by claiming that money talks.....right.

No.

you reputation that is firmly established by 1. your poor actions and 2. lack of actions is that you are a freeloader and defensive.

You are a freeloader.
Time for a dictionary definition:
Freeloader: A person who eats, drinks or lives at others' expense. (Oxford American Dictionary).

Am I not living at the expense of this list, nor of anyone on it. Either your ignorance of vocabulary is apparent, or you deliberately redefining a word to be provocative and attempt to arouse guilt.

Monetary contribution is a voluntary activity. (If you don't understand what 'voluntary' means, consult a dictionary.) Since you contribute financially you have an attitude of superiority, calling anyone who does not voluntarily contribute a "freeloader". Be sure you berate everyone else on this list who is not a monetary contributor with the same misapplied label. I'm sure it will make you feel better.

Maybe your money would be better spent on a course in remedial English.

Might I make a suggestion, this conversation is not helping anyone, lets stop bickering and focus our efforts on helping each other. People attacking each others character instead of pour fuel economy.

Mild jabbing is ok, but this has gone way past that. Instead of fighting each other we should be working towards unity. "A house divided will not stand".

After reading this thread who would want to join the site?
1. we put down a new member's ideas and advice (I agree that it is snake oil).
2. we take a light hared question/ joke (a simple laugh at your self of, he did not read my post very well, was all that was needed).
3. we jab at each other like immature people by calling people free loaders for not choosing the option of voluntarily donating (I have but that was my choice).
