I like salvage title cars. If they are beaters or rusty they run forever. Especially old Hondas and Toyotas. I buy one based on looks it often bites me in arse.

1999 Honda Accord 5 speed manual west of Phoenix for $1,200

I average 34 MPG with my autotragic, so 35 MPG is possible with a manual, right?

It only has 35,177 miles! With a car this old I would anticipate 305,177!

I don't know the history of Salvage titles [in this location], but I think these two predate such things. The Rader wheels came from a 1958 'Karmann Kabriolet'* and eventually, with 14mm bolts, were on a 1961 panel van. Most recently I traded the four wheels for a 1979 Dasher Diesel. The Dasher's asking price was $1500 and I was asking $2000 for the wheels, so, Xist, does it count?

T'other four within the scope of this thread (in nominal dollars).

*said so, right on it.

Maybe even 35.5 MPG!

Buy it! "Synchro adjustments" are super easy. I do that to all my cars.

MetroMPG -- My apologies, you are the Original Poster.

We agreed $1750 on the Dasher, but I was coming down $250 or why not $500?

I'm asking $1250 today. Because used car prices are through the roof?

I am pretty sure they missed a digit in their mileage, which probably wasn't the second place, as I joked, nor is it likely that they missed the first digit and it was 1 or 2.

I absolutely believe that someone would sell a 23-year-old car with 350,000 miles for $1,200--unless they know what they got!

In which case, don't lowball them!

Thats for sure the hardest 35,000 miles I've ever seen. Must of spent its life in South America trail riding and then was shipped back after the clutch went out.

2007 Prius with 200,000 miles, stolen cats, and dead hybrid batteries.

They stopped driving the car a year ago when the cats were stolen and they are just selling it now for $1,600.

So yeah. Fun decisions.

Those gen 2 Priuses look to be a really good beater for people who know how to work on cars. Slap in a frankenstein battery for cheap and you would have probably the cheapest dd possible.
