high miles 2001 Civic 5-speed: $1300
400k kms (249k mi.) -- "ALL HIWAY!"
That's a lot, but it's e-tested and has its mechanical inspection papers too, which is extremely rare in this price range.
EPA: 28 / 31 / 35
2001 Honda Civic | cars & trucks | Ottawa | Kijiji
---
I've hit a dry spell in my continuous search for another low-ish miles, local Metro/Swift/Firefly. Nothing has come up for a month or more.

Eh, no not really anything special. They're basically a sportier Tercel. In 92 they got a 16 valve DOHC vs 12V SOHC with 18 more hp and a shorter geared transmission. They have different sportier seats... Thats about it. They sold fewer of them I'm sure though I can't find any sales figures.

2002 Accord 5MT - $1k
This one doesn't meet the 35 mpg EPA highway threshold ... it's rated 22/24/29 mpg US.
But for $1k + some wrenching, I'd do it!
And it's supposedly had anti-rust treatments, which is good if true.

Yeah, and it's a four, not the V6. Even rarer?

I've got a buddy with an '00 Accord sedan, four banger with stick. His Dad has a Camry...four banger and stick.

Most people think I'm crazy when I say it's stick or bust next round. The Echo was free so I don't hate on the autotragic too much, but the car won't last forever and neither will my patience for the laz-o-matic trans.
As hard as it is to find stick anymore, I was impressed at seeing two midsize stick sedans in one place.

What's crazy is spending good money on a drivetrain that sucks. Even a throwaway car tends to stick around long enough that it's worth spending the time it takes to find one with a real transmission.
