Well, that depends on the part of California you happen to be in :-) Above 5000 ft or so, you can get quite a bit.
I actually rather like shovelling snow. It's good exercise.

I hate living near sand dunes.
But here in the winter... At my last apartment I could do a parking brake turn to the right to get into my driveway, and as soon as I had grip back I'd do another one to the left and slide to a halt right in front of my kitchen door. At work, let's just say that driving sideways through the lot of a new car dealership isn't for the faint of heart.
Snow can add delays, but wow it can make commuting fun.

We were in Silicon Valley, so we could visit the snow and have it on our terms. Plus, they use sand instead of that nasty salt crap. Really don't know why you put up with letting them rot your rather expensive possessions!

Tim just told me this discussion was the 10th most popular thread from last month
We had one or 2 miserable days since I posted the opening snow pic, but only a few flakes in the air -- no more accumulation.
Today it's sunny and 25C / 77F. First t-shirt, shorts & flipflops day of the year for me! Also coincidentally, the first sailing race of the year is this evening.
What a difference a couple of weeks make.

Last month was interesting. I did a lot of time in PA with cold temps and snow one night. I made my way pretty much straight home to E. Texas from that point, and it was great, mid-70s. It's weird, you can see the line where spring has sprung. Northern Indiana, for instance, is just starting to pop out where here in the South the fresh spring greens have darkened to their summer dress.

Yeah - last March drove from Florida north to Ontario. It was bizarre! It looked & felt like I was going backwards in time, from summer all the way through spring and back to late winter!
(I had flown down, so I didn't get to experience the fast forward effect.)

I [barely tolerate] living under a fir tree. There is no season of the year when it isn't shedding blossoms, seed cones, pitch or needles. If no two or three at once.
The needles are the worst they can reach the top of my car when it's in the carport! They work their way into the ventilator and the weatherstripping around the trunk.
Enough already. I got an Poulson electric chain saw for $12. I'll limb it until there is a little Christmas tree 40ft in the air.

Never thought about it that way! Nevertheless it is fascinating to see the minutiae of when and where Spring comes full force.

Now 2 weeks later we are getting aftermath of canadian heat wave. Highest temo this week was 29c 10 degrees above average summer temp but nights down to 4c. Change is on way but still no rain. 2 weeks is too long with no rain.
