Nobody knows about the movie. It's utter nonsense, so the less you know about it, the more you know about it.

Watched it. Intriguing, but they had to go to great lengths to work around Heath Ledger's death... and the novelty created by that sort of muddled the movie.

This reminds me, have to look up copies of Time Bandits and Baron Munchausen to show the kids.

CAFE rollback

So it looks like the 2025 CAFE standards are under the ax.There will be some hearings, but the object is to freeze standards at the 2020,30-mpg standard and kill the 54.5mpg 2025 target.
Elaine Chao,Secretary of Transportation discussed it 8/2/18.
Bill Wehrum of EPA weighed in on it.
Mark Herring,Attorney General,Virginia is against the rollback.
California's Attorney General, Xavier Becerra is against the rollback.
Mary Kate Hopkins, policy manager for Americans for Prosperity (Koch) supports the rollback.
Seems like Libertarians advocate state's rights until they conflict with buggy makers and purveyors of deceased dinosaurs, then all of a sudden they run to Big Government to throttle the state.
We the People is trumped by We the shareholder.
Yep,the spherical earth is a hoax,Massachusetts is bringing back witch burnings, and hang on to your patio furniture because the law of gravity has been rescinded.

I don't know why Trump is attacking CAFE, but he will surely lose. It makes sense for the federal government to set maximum pollution limits since pollution is not confined to a local area, but forcing states to adhere to a minimum pollution amount is absurd on the face of it.

Of the major political parties, I'm most closely in agreement with the Libertarian party, and my stance on this has been consistent. As much as I have always loathed that CA sets standards that affect the vehicles I get (and associated price), I have to say that states rights trump federal agendas, especially when the agenda is to decrease fuel efficiency standards.

The Koch brothers are very consistent in their mission to promote prosperity for people, and Americans in particular. They've backed people of all political parties. They are among the least politically motivated individuals, especially considering their wealth brings more power and influence than any 1 political group can muster. In other words, politicians can be for the Koch brothers, but the Koch brothers have no need for particular politicians or groups. Reminds me of the opening line of "The Departed", where Jack says he never wanted to be a product of society, he wanted society to be a product of him.

This says the Koch brothers almost exclusively supported Republicans, but that Turnip and his followers are moving further and further from the Koch's libertarian ideals. Now the brothers are supporting Democrats. https://www.npr.org/2018/05/17/61179...on-immigration

I believe immigration should start with 2 walls with a mine field in between.
Not just toe popper mines, more like s mines.
All the people even if only remotely worth having here come by air plane, or across a check point.
Drugs going north, money, guns are moving south across the open uncontrolled boarder.
We can make our own drugs don't need theirs, they really don't need our guns down there and we should keep our money.
