factory Ford escape grill block...
saw this in the parking lot. must be 70% block of the grill area.....

Yep, I noticed that as well. The in-laws just got a 2014 Escape with the EcoBoost, and I had to inspect it. Ford did some good work on those.
The in-laws' has the dreaded roof rack. When I told him the cross-bars easily snap out, and could fractionally increase his MPG, he kind of laughed it off. When they came out here for Thanksgiving, I noticed he had removed the cross-bars. No real MPG increase (didn't expect one myself) but he said it is notably quieter in the cabin.

GRILLE = what USED to serve as air-channel opening for radiator has now become nothing more than cosmetic design element at the front end of a vehicle.

But generally, aesthetically, cars with no 'faux grille' are ugly........the exception being the tesla.....
