Talking FE tune up parts

I'm doing a tune up on my Car. What vecosity oil should I use for my 1994 Honda Civic EX? also does the quality of spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor matter? What else should I be doing for my tune up? I decided on platinum spark plugs, synthetic oil, air and oil filter, anything else?

Run the genuine Honda replacement parts and whatever the lightest oil that they recommend, which should be a 5W30. Depending on how many miles you have, switching over to a synthetic might make the consumption go up.

The thing to remember with Hondas is that unless you are racing it, use what they recommend. It'll save you a lot of aggravation.

I have 5W30 in my 98 Civic right now. I'll go over to 0W30 in a few thousand more miles. I am in Southern Cali and I don't need to worry about winters of any significance. This car may never see a snowflake again. In general, I would agree with cleanspeed1: go with the official recommendations. I would only say that you might not go with official recommendations when you know with certainty due to reliable testing by others that something you want to change will be effective and safe.

I will rebuild Black and Green over decades as parts die, until it becomes a different car of roughly the same shape and color. My minimum fuel economy goal is 55 mpg while averaging posted speed limits. I generally top 60 mpg. See also my Honda manual transmission specs thread.
