What, to catch PaleMelanasian? Ty and I are dropping and you are still climbing( I hope you do take the number 1 spot).

I just put the studded snow tires on, and MAN do they drag. I am REALLY going to have to go all out to stay above 100%. I bought them last winter before I came here and heard about the Hakapolita's awesome traction and rolling resistance, and can't see a good reason to get rid of perfectly good( and paid for) tires. When these wear out, however....

ok can i ***** about the weather now? two weeks ago it got cold and i ended up with 56 mpg. Last week it warmed back up and i go back to 60mpg. this week got cold again and now I am back to 56mpg. So it looks like anything below 60 degrees is where he set point is for my drop. I am going to pull the t-stat out and see if its stuck open. because the driving i have done and the amount of grill i got covered it should have moved past 1/4 of the gauge. and the heater does not blow as hot as it should.

Could be the t-stat. To test, I use hot water or warm up the chamber end with a propane torch far enough away to gradually heat it.

Weather is always a factor, my friend. I'm just about to post a 42mpg fill. My snow tires REALLY grip. Re-re-RE learning to drive economically.

I think its stuck open or does not have one. At the peak of summer I had 50% grill block and it was 105 out side. the needle only got to a little over half way in the temp gauge. Now it got colder and I got about 70% grill covered and the needle never really moves. It's acting like my old truck did when i removed the t-stat. also no need for testing the t-stat is on top and only take two bolts. so it a 5 min job at the most.

umm... Yup. Sorry, stuck open would be VERY easy to spot after removal. Typing sober, again. Misread. Better now.

BTW- What's an Ecomodder Elite Club? Is it like a Louisville Slugger?

oh crap..... old t-stat i would never get out of high idle. now with in minutes I am at temp and in low idle with the temp stable. i found the t-stat was not bad but the rubber o ring around it was gone causing to much blow by. it was bad enough that the engine would nt get to the proper temp. so all and all... unit fixed. i just have to watch my grill block now to make the proper adjustments to the proper t-stat function.

yea I am glad I found it too. no the car ACTUALLY gets up to temp. It idles so low i thought i forgot to bump start it once and grinded the starter a little...

Guino yet? I think i got mine around April or so but have never had the time or motivation. I would always get the tools out and have a beer.... then never got away from the beer to do any good. This last week end though the GF grounded me and told me no beer until i get some man work done first so i picked that car to work on... hence the t-stat change. Well I was doing fine on locating the proper wires until i got to the Injector signal. I am getting 12 vdc on both wires and don't know what to do next.

the post is here with my car drawings
