It's nothing unique to the hybrid, well maybe the part where it doesn't "start" or idle, but all the things like proximity key, push button start, auto wipers, the dial shifter, the lane departure warning and correction, the button parking brake. I think she likes to manipulate gears, levers, handles, etc to drive the car. Or maybe secretly she wants to be a tank commander. I think she will grow to like all these features once she sees how easy it all is. She still has yet to even drive the thing, but it drives exacly like the 2011 with the same seating position. I think she just knows I like to drive it so she let's me take it everyday.

I didn't think I'd like the Eco-light indicator on my Metro that tells you when to shift. But since I know what speeds it lights at I use it for a crude speedometer driving in town. In my peripheral vision.

What's a nanny car? And how long until the majority view CUV's as nanny cars?

I hate electric parking brakes too. On a sidenote, it seems like newer cars have been developed mostly to cater to millenials who are eventually waiting for the day they could use their phones as a driving interface.

Electric parking brake? Smart phone cradle? AI ready? Sounds like the Fun Utility Vehicle.

Electric parking brakes don't make any sense to me. They are slow to respond, and sometimes don't respond the first few times you press the buttons. Does the orange light mean the brake is on, or off? Does pushing the button engage the brake, or pulling it? None of it is intuitive, just like modern GUIs that don't use words to describe functions.

Nanny car: one that has various lights and devces that tell you incessently something you'd rather ignore. That @$#%& shift light in my Golf, set up with gasser shift points in a diesel powered car. the beeping because there's someone next to you in your side mirror. The flashing speedometer saying youre going 16 downhill in a schoolzone. Where's the useful stuff like a radar detector, jerk in a dodge pickup rolling smoke so the AC goes into automatic cabin recycle (insert you're favorite device here), a way to blank the high beams on the road at night.
Or even: How about a max effort economy setting without replying many times, "Yes, I really want this"
The cool thing about electrc parking brakes is when they activate with the door opening unless you chaw 'bacy

For cars with manual transmission I prefer a handle-actuated parking brake, while for automatics a pedal is not so bad despite my bad knees. Electrics are a nightmare.
