This was the first time I've watched this film. Man alive, I can't believe how close EVs came to mass production! Just wait my friends... someone, somewhere will start making EVs again, and make a name for themselves in the process.
I saw it for the first time two weeks ago. Its soooo stupid that GM didn't let the lease holders buy them when they decided to discontinue the ev1. [emphasis added]
I fear it wasn't stupidity at all. It was more likely devious, spineless and self destructive conspiracy maybe, but not entirely stupid actions by the knuckleheads in the ivory tower. GM has a history of doing unethical things for their own short-term gain (promoting the lacing of gasoline with lead, killing of streetcars, killing EVs, etc.).
Just like when they formed the "grassroots" organization that killed the CA ZEV mandate, the oil companies haven't exactly been siting on their hands. GM has always taken hints (and probably "contributions") from the strategists at the oil companies.
