Haha ya it isn't a design you see everyday. It was actually designed to look like a mid engine sports car. I've also owned a MK2 Toyota MR2, and I compare it to that in terms or looks (or what they were going for). Actually the rear shelf compartments are nearly the same between the Del Sol and MR2.

What really makes these cars special is the driving position, interior, and just how fun the car is to drive at any speed. It has the best seats, the best driving position (sitting down low, shifter at steering wheel level, dash envelops you), and is probably the most enjoyable FWD Honda from the 1990's. Even though it only has 100hp you feel like you are driving a dedicated sports car, something all my Civic's over the years could not replicate.

No plans to make it into a truck, as I already have a truck when I need one.

I can attest to that!

The seating position in the del sol feels a lot more sporty and a lot more supportive than the "bus driver" seating position of my WRX Sti.

I believe the stock Del sol seats were made by Recaro.

I read the Del Sol has poorer visibility than the rest of the Honda line.

Im 6 ft 2 400 lbs, I doubt I could fit behind the wheel. The interior of the one I saw looked the same as a hyjet mini truck. Looks like its small enough to slip under a semi truck. If I had one I would make it a pick up truck.

Poor visibility indeed. I remember a specific event where I needed to merge quickly to catch my turn, and a motorcycle was hiding in my blind spot. Thankfully I saw him before contact, but unfortunately the incident happened within view of a police officer who had some kind words for me about using my blinker and checking mirrors

The absolute best feature of the car is the power rear window. Reduces the need for A/C, and allows for quiet airflow on the highway when you don't want the top off. It would always amaze people when I would roll down the window in traffic.

This is an actual truck, but you could make a deck lid with a recessed wooden plate with chrome rub strips. It would be like a luggage rack with lockable storage underneath.

Good call on the engine,so you settled with a JDM D15B with VTEC-E?
Just make it +aero and I don't see why you couldn't get 60 MPG with it.

BTW that Del Sol boat tail is reeeaaalllllyyy nice.

You'll want to spend some time under the rear of the car cleaning up the airflow, it's pretty bad. A small pan from the bottom of the rear bumper to make it less of a parachute will help a lot.
