Wow. I recently had a tire completely shed its entire tread - was running on the steel belt.

It was vintage 2014.

I had a stack of new tires with the Bridgestone stickers still on the tread... 2012, but I put them on anyway.

Wow!

I've also had a tire shed its tread, but amazingly it did it while the car was sitting PARKED in the freaking driveway!

I think it may have been the partner to this '06 vintage RE92.

I would have preferred that. It shed at about 75 mph and damaged the spoiler

I wonder if anybody ever figured out why RE92's seem to wear the shoulders of the tire significantly faster than the middle treads, even with high inflation pressure.

It's the car's tremendous cornering ability.

Neighbor's son's restored the Insight's IMA for a song.

I sold my 2000 Insight to my next door neighbor's son Ben.
He got the engine running the next day.
When the two new Bridgestone tires came in, he was able to drive the car home that day.
The shop I used installed ebay batteries BACKWARDS.
With $200 worth of used, un-tested batteries from Bumblebee, and $ 54 shipping, Ben's been able to restore the car's IMA function.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ben's documented the whole project. Look for it @

Thanks Aerohead! I didn’t know that replacing just the bad cells was an option. I’m going to try that when I get some time... Ha Ha.. so maybe next decade? I gotta stop adding projects to my list.

I would suggest that he replace the coolant temp sensor. Mine was intermittent and caused all kinds of random problems including cold starting problems and lowered mileage. They tend to die so I’ve been told at insight central.

Cheers!
