Got a new Yaris yesterday
I decided to take the plunge & become a new car owner. I got the 3dr. hatchback, w/ a couple of options. I was going after a 5spd, but my wife says she'll never learn, plus they didn't have any 5spds at all. All I've heard about them that is negative, like rough riding, no rear seat room, no power, ect. I found to be false. Plus i got 0% financing through toyota. The instrument panel is bare bones, not even a temp gauge. I'll have to get a ScanGauge, I like to know what's going on under the hood. I also heard that adding cruise control isn't a big deal as the harness is already set up for it, anyone add cruise to a drive by wire throttle?

Congratulations on the new car! We just bought an '09 Yaris in September, and haven't had any problems with it yet.
I just added the cruise control a few weeks ago, all it took was the $30 switch from eBay, and drilling a hole through the steering wheel cover. If you have the power package, that should be all you need.

Thanks, I didn't get the power package, I hate power windows, so I'll have to look into the bigger kits. I found some on e-bay, but I'd like other opinions first.

Actually, I don't think it even matters if you have the power package or not. This thread covers all of the cruise control stuff, so I don't think you need it.

I had an '09 Yaris 3-door (auto) for a week. Ended up getting 43 mpg average just with driving style (including my nightly climb.) Should be interesting to see what you can do with it. It already has some basic aero features like small air splitters in front of the rear wheels.

Daox,
Wow, the new car plunge, congrats! A friend of mine has an 07 & loves it. He gets around 40MPG but lives in the hills of Pa.
Did you trade in your Paseo?

Daox,
Sorry, I know it was ex-x that bought the new Yaris. I have Daox on the brain today!

Our mileage during the winter months was in the low to mid 30's, through mixed driving. We just took a couple of long highway trips though, and got a few tanks of 40-44MPG. The only things I've done to the car are bump the tire pressure up to 40PSI, and I'll shift into neutral a lot when I'm driving in the city, or going down a hill.
I may end up taking this car to the Green Grand Prix with some basic aeromods, like a grille block and wheel covers. I'd love to get a Scangauge in ours as well, not being able to at least see the RPM's is killing me.
