new here, and glad to join.
currently i have a 99 Audi A4 Quattro 5spd, 93 civic dx auto hatch, and working on a 87 yamaha ysr50 converting it to full EV.
the A4 is the main priority for now... main mode of transport. and im a full time student.. so that slices my resource $$ way down.
recently ive added an intake, vortekz generators, and started keeping a hawks eye on my tire pressure... doing these three have netted a 5mpg gain city driving and 3-4 hwy. i think i will have better luck with the honda. on the back burner i have an '88 CRX HF, my goals for it are: 1400lb driving weight, full interior, stock looking..., and 70+mpg on the modded stock 1.5L D15a6 motor

unfortunately im stuck w/ the 2.8 in the A4...... not many options to mod and upgrade the exhaust and ecu for that engine... kinda the red headed stepchild... if anything happens to it i will be upgrading to the 2.7 S4 motor..6-spd... worlds worth of options w/ minimal loss in efficiency.

the d15a6 was the CRX HF engine here in the USA... i wish i had my first crx back... it was an 84 that had an 88hf tranny/engine swap. i traded my montecarlo even up for it ... with absolutely no mods other that the swap... best tank was 68mpg! all hwy. most of the time it avg 55-60 hwy and 45+ city. but sadly it had oil issues that wouldnt be noticed till the cam sheared in half...even w/ only 50ish HP.. that car was a rocket.

if-n-when i get the 88 crx working the way i want, im hoping to get two tanks of gas for every oil change...... before any hybrid modding (dreams of course)

8lb wheels(vs.17lb stock steelies), light weight brakes, can you say carbon fiber? body-seats(11.5lb vs. 35lb stock)-panels-components..., light weight engine goodies, suspension, poly-something-lexan window replacement the door-qtr-rear is good for 72lbs...if i remember correctly. im still trying to figure out the adverse effects of a 7lb flywheel(21lb stock?)(on just the seats,glass,wheels,flywheel and brakes...im around 165-200lb savings...w/o body/major engine) the 88crx hf is around 1819lbs stock w/o AC

Kaneda - any progress on the A4?
I justed joind the group yesterday but have been hypermiling for about 2 months. (But I'm not hyper about it - I like to say I'm only extramiling!) I'm driving an A4 Avant with the 1.8T with the only mods so far being tire pressure and my driving habits I've improved my milage by between 20 and 30% ++
I'm ready for more!

with the 1.8t you have unlimited options for reprograming / upgrading... are you running auto or 5/6 speed?

I have an in general side question for all. Mirror deletes are not a legal option in Maine - today I experimented with just folding in my mirrors is that just pissing in the wind as it were?

less open space slamming into the wind the better... every lil bit counts. some euro/jdm spec versions of several great cars offer power folding mirrors... that might be an option... i havent looked it up yet for the A4 but i do have a set sitting for my CRX. also the euro versions of the audi/vw line offer smaller mirrors for their cars too about 50% of size...
