Hello from Portland
Hi everyone,
I've been a fan of the site for some time and only recently created my account. I'm a mechanical engineer in Portland, OR who upon discovering that my girlfriend and I have a baby on the way decided to take the plunge into a new project direction that saves money since I anticipate increased expenses in other aspects of life.
I have a 1992 Civic VX that appears to be stock except for the removal of the factory grill-block off piece by a previous owner that I hope to get a routine 50mpg from without EOC or drastic driving changes. The first refill put mpg at 44.6, but ~2/3 of the mileage was from the previous owner, and I am confident I can improve on that.
I look forward to making improvements on the car and hope to be a useful contributor to the community.

I'm not real familiar with the vx but my crx hf, I think is in the same league. So, if my assumption is correct, with some mods and adjustments to the nut, you should be in the mid 60's easily without much effort and 70's when the hyper eco bug bites you good!

Thanks!
I'd love to get into the 60+ mpg range, but for now I have short term goals I think can be achieved without too much effort. After this first tank I'm thinking that the MPGuino is my first mod since it will help indicate what changes are truly beneficial down the road.

Welcome!
As the ecomodding bug takes its course, most people start with small changes (tracking MPG, grill blocks and minor driving tweaks). For some the bug ends there, others get reinfected and push the limits (me). your car can get 70-80 MPG so keep on trying till you get over the bug
Blessings on your Child!

very innocent bug that turns agressive and doesnt let go, but unlike other car modding your time and effort and money here leads to more money in your pocket. (when done in an educated well searched and informed fashion).

Pretty incurable too!
A gauge of some kind will certainly make the 'bug' an extension of yourself....you become one w/ the device......(think BORG!!!)
I digress......checking tank to tank is very passive.
The gauge gives constant readuot and other critical info.
Also, air up the tires (40+psi)
