Do you live in Manchester TN?

My brother does, lookout for a red dodge neon being hypermiled when you get to Manchester.

Welcome.

I live in Anderson county and work in Knoxville.

I always worry a little bit about Honda HBs. They're such sweet little cars with crazy mileage potential - Gasoline Fumes' "Nutwagon" being a really, really good example - but they're also super popular with racer kids. The aftermarket wheel and CAI on your example being a case in point, I worry that the car may have been "riced" by someone who had an idea of what he was doing, but no more than that. The collection of throttle bodies only adds to the concern.

Cosmetically speaking, the hatchback you're looking at appears to be in great shape. That's a big plus, especially with a Honda that age. You'd halfway expect it to just evaporate from wintertime road salting. If the body and chassis are good, there's enough support for engine work that you could get the mill sorted without too much investment.

Thanks, this was my thoughts as well. They PO is an older gentleman. I don't think he abused it (too much lol). At least I'm hoping. I passed on a lot of riced out Honda cars before finding this one. I'll have to look up the nutwagon. I just don't see passing this one up for the price and mileage.

Hello and welcome to the site!

Ditto on what the others have said about it being modded already. I also think that $2200 for 91 Civic seems high to me, especially if it has any issues. I just got a 99 Chevy Metro with 120k for $1200 that needed minor work. $1k is a lot of money to do fix ups.

Yeah I agree, I would pass on this one. look for something else 4cyl 5 speed.

I don't mess with honda's because people mess with them all the time as cowhead said.#
I like my cars stock before I start messing with them. Just buy something you know is a good deal and not get rushed. I will gladly hunt down some CL ads for you if that is your decision.

Or do what I do. Buy the best car on the market for $500 and see how long it will last you, (hypermiling and driving easy goes a long way.) Sell it for $250 and repeat. I like to put a few more miles on the perfectively good cars people throw away. I'm not a important person I'm just trying to move around this earth and I prefer to do it as cheap as possible#!

I have until this weekend to find something better. If you have any links for a good MPG monster starter car, I'll check em out. Anything within 100-150 miles of 38506

Nissan Altima GXE 1993

94 Toyota corolla

Heres two cars. My brother said never to buy cheap cars in TN because of the lack inspections and emissions many cars will be too expensive. Its because cars that are a total POS can still be legally driven as is. Thats why many cars have straight pipe exhaust as well. And don't take a craigslist price as firm until they say it is.

Thanks! I'm not a big fan of the Altimas. The Corolla doesn't seem too bad for the price. I just can't get over the shape of the interior/exterior on the Honda. I really like it. I'm not buying it from a kid, so the steering wheel and intake don't bother me that much, but it is a concern.

My brother lives in Glen Burnie, about 8-10 miles from Baltimore.

Since LC is staying in TN w/ the car, no worries about added costs of trying to get it smogged.

You'd be surprised, there aren't as many beaters on the road as you might think. Certainly not around where I live, and Oak Ridge aside, my county is pretty rural.
