Its hard to resist this... And I have a max speed of 45 mph on my commute! I certainly wouldn't mind doubling my fuel economy.

You may want to consider joining a special group because of your eco-car hoarding addiction. A Tercel, Sunfire, Civic....and now a Metro?

Oh, this isn't the economy car hoarding meeting? Am I in the wrong place again?
---
Things to look out for:
#1) The horde of potential buyers fighting for this gem. It can get nasty, like Walmart on one of those big stupid sale days.
#2) Underbody rust, particularly the dreaded front control arm area. Though judging by the look of the car (faded bumper tops suggest southern living, and the paint looks original), it's probably OK.
#3) Crunchy 2nd gear synchro. Not a deal-killer - switching to a lighter, synth gear oil can fix the problem.
Other than that, it's about as simple as a 1962 CCM singlespeed bicycle.

It's "sophisticated", "sexy", and "refined". Just buy it...

Resistance was futile. I bought the Metro last night. I'd post more pics but its raining today and it was dark when I got home last night.
It definitely needs some work here and there, but nothing major. I could drive it as is until it starts snowing (needs 2 tires badly). I'll be making a build thread soon enough.
Initial impressions are, it really isn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. Power is quite adequate. Its not quite the tin can I thought it would be either. It has zero options and/or power features. No power steering, no power locks, no A/C, no trip odometer, no interior adjustable rear view mirrors. Its about as basic as it gets!
I asked the previous owner what he was getting for mileage. He said he hadn't kept track in a while, but he thought it was about 35 mpg. Yikes, thats low. He admitted to not really taking it easy with the car though. I'm expecting 60+ mpg in summer.

So, basically double the mileage of the autotragic Sunfire for about the same price.
My work here is done.
