Help! missing pcv valve!

I've been getting oil in the air filter and it was pretty soaked. So i opened up the engine cover, and i have a gaping open hole where the pcv valve should be! Nothing is there, and i couldn't even find the hose that should connect to it. So i look around and i find the hose wrapped around the the bottom of the engine and pulled between the engine pulleys and belt. The hose is sliced open from the friction of being pulled into there.

Should i stop driving the car till it's fixed? Have i been damaging the engine by driving it with an open hole where the pcv valve should be for goodness know how many hundreds of miles?

I would just fix it and keep driving, or drive to the parts store then install it.
It can effect your idle also i would not be surprised if it hurts your gas mileage.

Ok, so i cut the breather tube in half, and yank out the part of tube that was was wedged into the circular pulley with pliers. The tube breaks, and theres a little piece left wedged in the pulley, so i start the engine hoping the rest would fall out. It does. I take a look at what remains of the long "missing" pcv valve still attached to the breather tube. There are two circular bite marks going straight into the metal of the pcv valve cut out from friction. The cuts are so clean, it looks almost like a cnc machine milled it out. Probably been in there for at least a 1,000 miles!

I bought the whole pvc system before for my Jeep Cherokee , whole system as the lines/hoses were $20 and the valve itself was 10-$20 but what a difference it made it smoothed out the idle of the 4L motor to such a degree it was dead still @ idle.

I also noticed idle improvements from cleaning a clogged pvc in the past.
I think it is without the pvc the idle increases slightly and with a clogged one it decreases..
