Hi fr. Somewhere

Hi,

I'm really here to learn. I doubt I'll qualify as a hypermiler.

My current HA does 8.86 L/100 km when I drive semi sensible.

When I do a full tank at 85 km/hr on the highway then it goes to 7.64 L/100 km. For you yanks that's 30.8 MPG.

I'll be buying a new Accord next month (1.5T). Per some on the Drive Accord forum they are hitting 45 MPG in good conditions and very conservative driving. Not at all bad.

BUT my main concern is safety.

Is there such a thing as a recognized "hypermiler" logo?

I intend to add lights to the tail of the car also so people are warned well in advance... is there a standard?

The real standard for rear warning lights is already built into your tail lights. But you could add red led light strips, too. Looks kinda cool sometimes.

For stickers, ecomodder.com is good!

I will rebuild Black and Green over decades as parts die, until it becomes a different car of roughly the same shape and color. My minimum fuel economy goal is 55 mpg while averaging posted speed limits. I generally top 60 mpg. See also my Honda manual transmission specs thread.

Thanks C98C,

I'm looking for something that is self explanatory and doesn't rely on the viewer's language. "Hypermiler" doesn't translate well ...

As to lights, more red or yellow just makes one look like he has simply added more yellow and red lights...

I was thinking blue or purple could be an attention getter...

I think the closest thing to what you are looking for would be one of those slow vehicle triangles. Other than that, maybe a "pass" sign with an arrow pointing to the lane which SHOULD be used for passing.
