Hi from Hungary
Hi everyone! I've regged to this site because I saw a living motorcycle forum here I've already member at gassavers and cleanmpg. In case there's some feud between sites I don't know about, please forget it What I do is generally not understood by the biker sites' community at all, I need these sites (and I learned a lot from them).
I live in a Hungarian village called Vértesacsa with my girlfriend and work in the nearby town (Székesfehérvár) which is a 2*25km commute for me. When I moved out of my mother's place in town I decided to cover the distance by a motorcycle and took the license accordingly - and I still don't have a car. I'm having an eye at the peak oil and environmental problems, my choice roots here, it's some kind of damage control - but I learned to enjoy riding very soon and I always hunger for experience so I had quite a few road trips around in Hungary and in the surrounding countries (Austria and Slovenia is just the beginning). It's clear that I need a damage control for my damage control - it's hypermiling
Beside energy efficiency I'm also interested in photography and interesting cultural... things. I don't know how to classify religions, folclore and made-up stories and worlds together It includes anime and the Touhou series too, therefore I cosplay too...

The name of my 'damage control' also comes from an anime (Claymore) - she's called Teresa. How on Earth could I name a silver BMW F650CS (early 2004, ABS) anything else???

I keep a lifetime mileage log of both of our bikes - we bought another one for my girlfriend too and now she has the riding license too, we visited Slovenia a few weeks ago together. The other bike is Ciliegia, a 2005 Hyosung GV250, another choice made keeping FE in mind. Mileage log also led at cleanmpg and gassavers. Man, why did I enter one more FE oriented site?
Ok, ok, I'm off, I have a game to program (it's not my job, just another crossover hobby)...
OK then, I'm new, no images for me. I hope I can get away with a few disguised links...

Hey there, welcome, I posted the photo of your BMW motor and one random photo of a 2005 Hyosung GV 250.
Very nice looking bikes, I'm impressed ! What kind of mileage do you get on the bikes ?
Last but not least, WELCOME !

Damnit, it logged me out and deleted my post... well, here are the logs:
(I give up, this time it's harder to fool the forum engine...)
And a picture about Ciliegia, she's dark red and black
h.ttp://i259.photobucket.com/albums/hh287/shiNIN666/motor/sas_csakvar.jpg
Still not enough posts... ok, 5 is not that much, but how can one properly introduce without pictures?
So they seem to differ in their characteristics and the techniques they need. Ciliegia does pretty well with just relaxed, steady riding at nice backroads and in town. We're still waiting for our first 90+mpgUS tank, but have several in the 80s now that she's not a learning bike anymore and we get familiar with her (especially my girlfriend, she's her bike).
Teresa is geared higher and reaches the most efficient range at low highway speeds (like 45-50mph) and holds on at moderate freeway speeds pretty well (still in the 70s at 110km/h = 68mph), but gets worse under ~45mph where she can't go in 5th gear anymore (4th may not be worse because of the less aero drag, I really don't know though). Anything slower I Pulse&Glide like crazy (if I can), and lately I do it in 5th too again. This way it's possible to exceed 90mpgUS, my best is 98.9 (2.38l/100km), I got it on my previous, 2*61km (2*38mi) commute. Todays 25km (15.5mi) route is under 90, perhaps it could be better in a more radical style than P&G in 5th (4th in villages) and FAS on a few, long downhills...

Laurentiu, cfg83: thanks for your help with the pics - I'll do it myself soon
The black&white outfit you linked is my arrancar uniform, own design, for a character that's in a Haibane Renmei + Bleach crossover story - something that can't exist, but it does (Because I write it. I plan to conclude it in a Touhou-like game...)
The girl next to me is a friend of us, who dressed as Kana from Haibane Renmei.
And here's my Reisen outfit:
I linked it, yay me!
About the 250 Hyosung: of course it's a lot cheaper than a Harley - although I, personally, can't imagine myself riding a HD, except for the Sportster, maybe. The rest are not motorcycles for me, but motherships (I'm 5'9" and 145lbs) And no way they're good for first bikes (the GV250 is 368lbs, the F650CS is 412lbs, they were much better for us)
Anime? My favourites are Haibane Renmei, Claymore, Kaiba, Mushi-shi, Samurai Champloo, Texhnolyze, xxxholic, Dennou Coil, Binchou-tan, Spirited away, Wolf's rain, Loveless, FullMetal Alchemist, FLCL

Oh yeah, I knew the outfit was familiar. I haven't seen every Bleach episode yet. For some reason my brain was channeling it as a possible Trigun character. Stupid brain.

Can't go wrong with those. I'm watching the FullMetal reboot, and FLCL is great. I consider this Cowboy Bebop sequence to be a MASTERPIECE from time 4:30 forward :

Finally, a night shift... I've copied Teresa's mileage log from gassavers to here.
