What is the maximum you can spend? It might be better for you to spend a little more for the car so you can save on maintenance costs/lost work in the future. With your commute being more viable than moving or getting another job, you might want to look into getting a loan if its necessary to get a solid vehicle.

That deal on the Insight wasn't going to last long :/ 5.5 is fair for good condition or low miles, but a new tranny and battery- that could have gone for 7+.
