Scott..., that is a good question. I have no idea. I like a little bit of noise to the pipes, but not too much. It is not too loud, just enjoyable. Weather permitting, i'm headed up to our Canadian border, then west on some little state highway and see how far i feel like going. I'll report more when i get back. Ride on!! :{)

Today i rode 446 miles and visited 3 Canadian Border crossings. Well..., for no other reason then to see them and to find another great little place that has fantastic PIE! And boy did i. It was a very windy day, mostly 20-25-mph head/cross winds with 35-mph or so gusts that would blow me all around in my lane of travel. Wow, i can not remember the last time i've felt that much wind. Great ride and i still knocked out 76-MPG!! :{)

I wonder if one of those Quasimodo style hunchback racing jackets will have any effect on mpg.

Hey Teo, I'll bet they would if a guy would remain in the Racing or Tucked position and the jacket is designed for. Anytime you can remove or lessen wind resistance, you'll make gains. Being "slippery" in the wind is key. As Motorcycle Hall-of-Famer Craig Vetter has pointed out and proven many times. See his website for further. Craig vetter dot com. :{)

I made another trip up to the Canadian border and this time I met up with a "YouTube" Celebrity returning to the states from his Umteenth trip up to Alaska on a motorcycle. His name is Tim and he goes by "Tewster2" on the ADV site. Last year a couple of my kids and i stumbled across his videos on YouTube. The one we enjoyed the most was called "Tiny Bike to Alaska" which was very well done IMHO.

I met Tim at the Porthill Idaho border crossing and we rode down to the truckstop in Moyie Springs for lunch.

We then headed for Montana and went through Troy, Libby and ended up at his desired destination of Kalispell for the night. We had another great visit and had some supper.

We each made a new friend, had some great laughs about his/my travels/experiences and some incredible things that had happened along the way. We bid each other well and i headed for home rounding out another 505 mile day trip for me! Good times, great visit, a really great ride and a new friend! :{)

Tim said he regularly gets 50-55mpg the way he rides, slow and easy and usually 55-60mph. He has a huge aftermarket tank on his DR650. Neither of us had to stop for fuel, so i really don't know for sure. I stopped once after i left him, but didn't do the math. He did say that with only having a 5spd, he rarely hits 65mph and only if he has to.

Even in Montana with their 70mph state highways(not the interstate), he'd only run 55-60mph. He'd almost immediately pull to the side and wave folks on by. It was interesting to watch how many folks passed him and waved thanks!

I got home at 11pm and have still not topped mine off yet to see what my overall MPG was for the trip. I should be able to do that this weekend. After 14.5 hours total(including stops/visiting) and 505 miles, my backside and shoulders were flat wore out!!

I really don't know how guys can make it through the Iron-Butt/Saddle Sore rides...they are some really tough individuals. I don't know that i could make it through that on a BET!! Great ride/visit though! :{)

Just got an update from Tim. He made it back to his vehicle where he will load his bike and drive to his home in Florida. Tim also posted that after much thought, research and personal conversations with owners, that when he returns home he will be ordering a brand spankin' new 2019 Honda NC750 DCT!! If interested, you can follow along with his purchase/builds on ADV rider. He is there under Tewster2.

So last night i scored and installed a nice set of touring luggage for the NC. Trying to figure out what will make the trip to Alaska and work the best. Now to head out to my test track and ride 100 miles to see what the effects of the new luggage are. I'll try a ride with all three of them, then the Top box only and lastly the side boxes only. Interested in seeing what the penalties will be... :{)

It amazes me to see that with the high heat we have been having lately that my tires have not lasted nearly as long these last couple of trips as i have hoped. So, waiting on new tires to arrive and then head out and get some new mileage numbers! :{)
