Will you two at least agree that a Porsche only has two doors?

I remember listening to Bill Cosby stand-up where he was talking about purchasing a sports car and he asked if anyone in the audience had one. People shouted out what they owned and one guy said "A Volkswagon!"

I absolutely won't. lol, have you been to the Porsche website?

I will not agree that a criteria makes the car. The Honda Insight, and CRZ are the only two cars I can think of off the top of my head that are as "sports car" as the Miata- and I could see an argument for the CRZ, but not the Insight.

I'd much rather have a Panamera, than anything else in there line. But I would never buy any of their products, unless my wife was LOADED.

I think it comes down to the purpose of the car, there are different levels of "sporty". The Miata has adjustable suspension and is a 2-seater, obvious sports car. My car has less luggage space than a Lotus Elise depending on how you look at it, and is designed to save weight and be driver focused, obvious sports car. In my book if it's got 2 seats and some kind of performance pretentions it's a sports car.

A 911 or Mustang or M3 has those pesky back seats and lots of luggage space, but there are clear performance pretentions behind the design too. Sports car, but not as hardcore.

Then you get to the "sports sedan" category, where it gets murkier.

Anyways back on topic, have you guys seen what kind of gas mileage the new Porsches pull off? I reckon a 430hp 991S with X51 can pull off over 40mpg on the same run that Vette did. For the price of that car you can buy two Corvettes with Z51 though haha.

Ever driven an Insight on a twisty bit of road? Or left a stoplight, and noticed that (without you even trying) that all the other cars are maybe a hundred yards back?

Many twisty roads. I have noticed leaving cars behind when I floor it. It's almost the same way the Mustang leaves cars behind at 50% throttle. I've never been on a road in the Mustang, and wished I had the Insight, or been in the Insight and preferred it to the Mustang. The road grip in the RE92s and body roll is terrible compared to the Mustang. The squishy feeling is just terrible, in my opinion. Road feel and grip is much weaker in the Insight.

...highest GEAR at lowest RPMS...and lots of low-end torque.

Technically I did, I mentioned that Porsche can do better (or at least match the Vette) with the same HP. Hah. The 2.7L DFI Cayman gets almost 40mpg doing 70mph, which I find extremely impressive considering how high the rolling resistance is on the stock tires. A Prius gets what, 50 at 70? Around town the Porsche is rated higher EPA despite not forcing a 1-4 shift or having a strange shift schedule.

I want to like the Corvette but I just can't get over the pushrod V8, whose <7k rev limit is kind of lame. Now that other manufacturers are coming to their senses and offering taller gears, Corvette fuel economy is no longer best in class.
