here are some pics of the front in a new color:

the silver paint did not stick to the steel, I might have left the thin oil coating on it and it came off and started rusting. washed it off and hit it up with black as that is what I had. not sure I like the look.

What do you all think of the paint? ideas? flowers are out but most everything else is on the option list

is it worth taking the thin flashing off and do it in fiberglass?

Well the front nose cone middle section (silver in post above) got to bugging me. I did not like the thin flashing as it bent under any pressure. this resulted in lots of wrinkles (see post above) and creases. I also did not like the caulk on the seams. my nose to hood transition was also not as good as i would like. I uses to small of hinges and did not design the flap right, so I had to unscrew the hinges to get the hood open

So today I decided to try to make it better by doing it in fiberglass

this is with the old off and 75% of the new fiber glassed. ran out of resin so stopped as asked a family member in town on errands to get me other gallon can. had fun with paint too

rest with one coat.

Done and painted:

What percentage gain have you concluded from the front bumper redesign?

I would say it helped me about 5% of what I was getting, so 2-3 MPG. I do not have any aba testing but I do know my last few tanks have been better then without it and my coasting is longer.

Update

I put a key lock on the new hood hatch to keep it closed, on windy days it could blow open when parked. It cost about $5 and was easy to install.

then I took some overall shots
