Presumably this wouldn't be much of an issue now that laminated glass has been more common on side windows too. Or in case the glasses are replaced with some plastic sheet.

Chris hinted that something happened to his BMW, but the whole video was about getting his car ready for the 24 hours of lemons. He reviewed what he already did--a clip show.

Then he started explaining what he did since, but there was too much so he summed up.

It sounds like there was a catastrophic failure at the race, so I watched a 13.5 minute video just for the catastrophic failure and got a To Be Continued...

The only thing that interested me was his cool suit, which recirculates ice water around a special shirt, which sounds nice, but guys?

My legs get really hot!

Chris removed more weight and replaced the back windows with Lexan

Apparently he threw a rod, so he installed a junkyard engine, and he said that side windows were prohibited, but people pointed out open back windows were bad for aero, someone ran a CFD, and he bought Lexan inserts--for over $100.

Why didn't he just cut Lexan?

Lemons Racing

I used to follow Lemons Racing in hopes of one day building a car and getting on a Team.

I gave up. These "$500" cars require about $5k to build (and more to be competitive) and is plumb full of cheaters building "$500" turbo Megasquirt miatas and turbo BMWs that were not even built on wrecked vehicles. You can't even get the tuning software and components up and running for $500.

No way these were built for $5k or under. Now, the "$500 build" does not include safety equipment (which is about $2k to $3k, ouch). But I call total BS on the competitive cars and what they are claiming they spent on it. U can barely even get a junkyard motor for less than $500 anymore.

Do you think Chris Fix's BMW qualifies as a $500 Lemons build?

Until they make Lemons into claim type of racing (you can purchase any vehicle for the claim price minus safety equipment), this is not realistic grass roots racing.

If you ever have watched real $1000 claimer racing, it is real competitive. The winner's car is often purchased if he looks a bit too fast. U got to start with clapped out sh.t and learn to drive to be competitive.

Team ChrisFix completed the Lemons!

B is for Build and Rich Rebuilds also raced.

Last year Chris's engine went out after 15 laps.

Rich made it 16 in this, his first year:
