AMAZING to see the differences driving style can make to fuel economy

All of the people in my family keep close tabs on fuel economy (Doesn't change their driving style at all) but it's just an interesting thing to them

Well with my sisters 1988 Mercedes 190 E 2.3 she's always complaining about her fuel economy which seems strange cause our 1991 Mercedes 190e 2.3 does GREAT on gas. Then again i ride with her and see why, NO warm up hard acceleration and jackrabbit starts/stops

Well out of her car depending on the week she'll clock between 21 and 25 MPG .. not great for a 4 cylinder Well my dad drove her car for a few days.. just out of boredom. BOOM 29-30 MPG

I decided i'd try it just to see if i could do better in the car 32MPG Not AMAZING but still pretty good with nothing done to the car just shows a bit of how driving styles affect FE

Very true. My daughter and I drove from Montgomery, AL to Biloxi, MS. It's pretty much flat both ways. She drove down at 80 mph, used 12+ gallons to go 260 miles, and got 21.45 mpg in her Dodge Grand Caravan. I drove back on 9+ gallons, and got 26 mpg, simply driving 62 mph. It doesn't seem like that much, but she was throwing away 25% of her gas.

Good going Domman
The best way to get others onto our side of the Force is by example. Your sister may not change overnight, but if your dad and yourself keep reminding her that it's not the car that's responsible for the milage she's compaining about, then maybe that will get her thinking.
