I just saw this at Target in Salem last night. It's in a location not well used, away from the regular parking for the store, 5 min from I-5.

That is important. If you place EV charging spots close to the store people in gas cars will park in them. I see it all the time at the Fred Meyer where the EV chargers are right next to the handicap spots.

I thought it was smartly placed. It's out of the way parking for any of those businesses in the area.

Fred Meyer on Market would have been a better spot though since it's only 30 seconds off the freeway. There's a barren spot across from Fred Meyer that often hosts weekend car sales that is even better situated by the freeway and not being utilized much. Would be sweet to have a charger located 15 seconds off the freeway.

Neither to I. Well, considering an EV won't be subjected to stricter restrictions based on their age and emissions certification as ICE-powered cars already face in some European cities, it wouldn't surprise me if most EV owners got to prefer battery upgrades instead of buying a new car more often.

We're gonna have million-mile batteries soon. I don't think replacement batteries will be needed at all.

According to Sandy Munro, we are already there in practical terms even if nobody is yet claiming it.

I think those "million mile" batteries will fail from age long before they reach a million miles. That is 67 years of use at the typical 15,000 miles per year

They would have residual capacity after suitability for cars is expended (it would appear). People will hand them down to their heirs.

I believe they will be repurposed. Hard to buy salvage volt packs cheaply right now since they are ideal for solar

I have no doubt that EV batteries will be repurposed for other uses. I have very skeptical that any Li-Ion battery is going to work for 50 years (or even 25)

Li-Ion battery degrade based on age and cycles.
