27* here in sunny Virginia Beach.
I am watching my Grandson so I can't head for the boneyard.
Last week when it got down to 40* the Mexicans were few and far between.
I am sure today all 746 of them are huddled in one pickup with the heater blasting and have left the entire yard empty for me to ramble about in.
Oh how i would like to be there now.

VB is nice and friendly, but not small or inexpensive.
To our south is Moyock, NC. or Elizabeth City, NC.
They are both very nice, small towns with reasonable affordability and homey atmosphere.
I would head that way myself, but, the commute (125 mile one way) would negate any saving I would get from the relocation.
They are not directly on the coast but only an hour or so away from the beaches of the Outer Banks.
Let me know when you move. I will help you unload the U-Haul.

On the Southern side of the Equator we are in the latter stage of Summer so temps are hot (32 C today and 41C a few days ago and returning soon) and bushfires a constant threat.
Drought water restrictions are still in place and have been for about the last five years or so.
I found the thermometer I use for checking the fridge and freezer...it only goes as low as -10C !
Cheers , Pete.

I'm parking and sitting under trees in NZ. 26 cel and 90% humidity. The sea is like a warm bath. I walk up to the supermarket just to hang out by the freezers.

And it's colder where many of you guys live, for weeks on end, right???
I know your country is nice, clean, and friendly, but I don't know if it's worth it living in the bitter cold all winter!!!
I love the Midwest and am too poor/cheap for it, but I'm really thinking Southern CA would be nice right now.

I was in Saint Louis a week ago. It was freezing. There wasn't any snow and a crapload of ice. Southern Cali has it's dropbacks. Traffic, expensive houses, and pot holes everywhere.

I'm sitting in a snowbank watching mices play chicken with a snowy owl. The actual thermometer reading doesn't matter anymore and the only humidity there is forms icicles in my beard. I can't check the lake as there's 2 feet of ice on it, but I doubt I'd find a "warm bath" under there. Thinking about it, I should walk up to the supermarket just to hang out by the freezers too.

I agree. I would much rather drive when it is 0F or below. The snow is like dirt. I hate driving when it warms up becuase our poorly maintained roads turn into deep pools of slime.

Sounds like Northwest Lower Michigan in the summertime. Charlevoix is daily gridlock. And the not so friendly attitudes of the people who live in these million dollar houses for 3 months out of the year.

We had almost a week of -20C highs and -27C lows and then a couple days ago it warmed up. I went out to feed the critters and felt what seemed to me, a "warm breeze"... After I was done I checked the thermometer, -5C
Compared to -27 I guess it is relatively warm!
Once you dress for it -10C is perfect winter temperature, the snowmobile runs properly, the snow on the driveway is a bit squeeky.
